PreMaster experience at grow

Interview with Sarah Kleeberg

Sarah Kleeberg

What is the PreMaster Program?

The PreMaster Program (PMP) is aimed at bachelor's graduates and is structured in two phases: a practical phase in the company and then the study phase at the university.

In the company phase, students take on tasks in a specialist field that will later be the focus of their master's degree. During the company phase it is possible to work in other business areas and departments in order to gain an overview of related fields of work.

The team spirit and the openness also influence the work of the team greatly and it was impressive to get to know this agile and open way of working at this level.

Sarah Kleeberg, PreMaster Program participant

Meet Sarah

Sarah is a PreMaster Program participant and is doing her company phase of the program in the communications of the internal legal department. She spent one month at grow to work at the platform team.

Why did you choose grow as a station?

When I first heard about grow, I found the idea very exciting. Start-ups within a big company like Bosch? It didn't fit together for me at first. But actually, it's not so far-fetched, because Robert Bosch himself had a brilliant idea, which he then developed further. The creativity of the team and the interesting and new working methods that are used daily at grow made me curious, which is why I chose them as my last PreMaster station.

In which area of grow did you work and what were your tasks?

I joined the grow marketing team and was accepted as a full team member from day one. My tasks were supporting the Innovation Teams in marketing and communication, creating internal training material and LinkedIn postings, as well as creating a small communication campaign.

What expectations did you have of your station at grow? And have they been fulfilled?

For my last PreMaster station, I wanted to be open to everything, but of course I expressed a rough direction and interests. I was particularly interested in the support of the Innovation Teams and I hoped to be able to support them in marketing. I also wanted to gain insights into external communication as a counterpart to my tasks in the internal communication of the legal department. My expectations were met in a different way than I had previously thought. Unfortunately, the demand from the Innovation Teams for marketing support was not as great as I had expected, but I was still able to use my skills at one point or another, for example in supporting an Innovation Team with the design of their minimal viable website.

Especially in the area of external communication and agile work my expectations were exceeded, and I was able to support the team with my skills and knowledge.

What is your conclusion from your time at grow?

My conclusion? That despite the short four weeks I had at grow, I learned a lot and took new impressions with me. I can recommend grow to anyone who has the opportunity to work there and become a port of the team – PreMaster, JMP or Internship!

What is one thing that impressed you the most during your time at grow?

Just one thing? That is hard. I was especially impressed by the incredibly strong team spirit and the openness in the grow marketing team. That's why I immediately felt accepted into the team and that also made the team workshop in the third week a very great experience. The team spirit and the openness also influence the work of the team greatly and it was impressive to get to know this agile and open way of working at this level.

What was a learning from your time at grow?

You are especially strong as a team and can achieve anything.

How did you continue after that?

After my month at grow I went back to my anchor department where I completed the last weeks of my company phase of the PreMaster Program. In October I will start with my graduate studies in media sciences at the University of Tübingen.

Thank you Sarah!
