Rejected Ideas

Rejected Ideas

Unimplemented ideas do not necessarily have to be bad, as our small collection of examples shows. Either, these ideas were not chosen by the grow advisory board or the teams had to realize that their ideas were not yet mature.

1/18 - 12/19

The start-up “Technology for Agroecology in the Global South” (TAGS) was part of the grow family for the last two years. Their initial mission was very ambitious: support smallholder farmers in the global south in order to fight food scarcity, poverty and climate change. In the end, organizational difficulties and a lack of reference to the Bosch Smart Agriculture strategy lead to the decision to stop all activities of TAGS until the end of 2019.

Smart urban logistics

1/18 - 12/18

The projekt team "smart urban logistics“ worked on the problem of the inefficient, last mile of parcel deliveries. The goal was to develop a mobile parcel station that optimizes the loading and unloading space with smart technology. As a result, more parcels can be loaded into one vehicle load. The idea was abandoned due both to the low fit to the Bosch business and the large external logistics competition.

Professional laundry tracing

12/17 - 10/18

This start-up wanted to develop software and hardware for professional laundries that would enable the traceability, tracking and inventory management of textiles. The aim was to make processes more efficient and to reduce complaint costs due to lost textiles. However, the team figured out that the industry was not willing to invest money in this new kind of technology.

Magic Mirror

07/17 - 10/17

The "Magic mirror" start-up aimed to make the lives of customers easier by using the magic mirror as a display to control all smart and connected devices. Due to the neutral appearance of a mirror, it can be seamlessly integrated into the household. Since the business idea in this form offered too little added value for Bosch, it was not pursued any further.

E-car charging

10/17 - 09/18

The team wanted to connect electric car drivers and charging station providers via an app and connected charging points. The aim was to make charging electric cars possible everywhere. They wanted to make charging points easy to find, switch on and off and organize payment via an app. Nevertheless, due to the very slow increase in the number of electric car drivers, no investments were made.
