Exit story of Deepfield Connect

DEEPFIELD CONNECT

Agriculture is facing considerable challenges. Among those is the fact that the world population is growing at a faster rate than areas of farmland. The questions is “how to feed 10 billion people?”. This challenge might be only solved with smart agriculture technology. With the help of smart sensor systems, “Deepfield Connect” aims to support farmers in their labor-intensive daily lives and contribute towards quality assurance and increasing efficiency and yield.

As a Bosch start-up Deepfield Connect aims to optimize agricultural production processes – with connected measuring systems designed to increase production output, improve quality assurance, and to avoid waste. To do this, sensors monitor climate conditions such as temperature and humidity on the field or in the milk tank. The measured values are transmitted to an app on the farmer’s smartphone via the Bosch cloud, enabling farmers to have an overview of all their fields or milk tanks – from anywhere and at any time. An individually adjustable alarm ensures that every farmer is able to react in time in case of critical values are reached. This ensures quality and yield and minimizes production costs and workloads, whilst allocating resources efficiently.

What started out as asparagus and strawberry monitoring has been successfully extended to fruit and vegetable cultivation and milk production. Currently there are already three products available: Field Monitoring, Asparagus Monitoring and Milk Monitoring.

Our connected agriculture story is to be continued with further use cases and solutions in a new format from 2019. On 1st January the Deepfield Connect business reached the next level with the move to Bosch Software Innovations GmbH. In this business organization the new vertical “Connected Agriculture” has been established. It includes recently the three main business cases Deepfield Connect, Smart Crops and Smart Irrigation to get the little Bosch agriculture plant grown with collective power and lots of passion.
